This Christmas, following the normal Harris tradition, we gathered on Christmas Eve to celebrate. We ate a great meal complete with lamb, which my hubby didn't know he loved! We enjoyed each other's company, and enchanged gifts. And, also, as per the norm, my kiddos made out like bandits! I think they all got what they wanted and what they didn't know they wanted!
I always worry that the girls will become spoiled or forget how fortunate they are. So, I helped them clear out their rooms of toys they no longer play with, and we bagged them up for Goodwill. We did this before we put away the new toys. And, we will be volunteering at a soup kitchen at least once during Christmas Vacation. This was Tommy's first Christmas, and he was not too interested in opening presents, he prefered to sit back and watch. He enjoyed eating; he really loves ham. He also enjoyed all the attention he received, especially from those who don't get to see him that often.
Anyway, back to Christmas 2008...Thanks to my girl, Caty, we discovered a wonderful new Scrabble-esque game called Banangrams--maybe you've heard of it? It's like Scrabble on speed; it's great! Brandon, Tom, Sam, Mom, and I really enjoyed playing it! I think it will become a new regular at family get-togethers.
On Christmas Day, hubby and I packed up the kiddies and headed over to his parents' place. We had some good eats there and visited. We spent some time Tyler and Anthony, as well, which made hubby very happy, as we haven't seen as much of them as we would like lately. We exchanged gifts, and I think Tom was pleased with the pocket T's we got him. Brad gets his fashion sense from Tom---the ever fashionable pocket T... (he,he). Tommy decided he was done with all this Christmas stuff by this point and wanted nothing to do with opening presents or, even, eating cookies. He was content to nibble on some cheese and be held by Mommy or Papa Tom. He did enjoy gnawing on his mini soft Tonka fire truck.
In preparation for Christmas, the girls helped me bake pies, apple pear crisp and lots of cookies. The cookies never made it to my parents house; my hubby couldn't get enough. And, I didn't really care, I made them to be eaten afterall.
