This year, we bought 4 HUGE pumpkins. The girls each picked out which one they wanted and Tommy got the one that was left. Peyton drew on hers with marker and I carved as best as I could following her drawing. Isabelle used a cat stencil. She traced it onto the pumpkin with permanent marker and I carved it out. I cut a huge happy face on Tommy's pumpkin, and Zoe, now old enough, designed and carved her own. All the kids, except Zoe (she's too old for this now, apparently) loved scooped out the ooey gooey pumpkin and seeds. We baked both sweet and savory seeds. Sweet seeds make with brown sugar and cinnamon and savory seeds with salt and garlic. Yum! I burned the sweet ones, unfortunately.
